Semi-annual Tree Sale: General Information Extra's Available Form Tree and Shrub Descriptions Terms and Conditions
The Clinton Conservation District holds Spring and Fall tree sales. Spring brochures are available in March for the April sale. Fall brochures are available in September for the October sale.
Tree sales have been a traditional activity and fund raiser for conservation districts. Planting trees ties back to the original soil conservation mission.
Each spring and fall we sell a variety of conservation seedlings for erosion control, wildlife habitat, reforestation, windbreaks, and many other conservation purposes. We also sell some naturalizing bulbs and root stock.
In the Spring, seedling varieties generally include wildlife shrubs, hardwoods, conifers (evergreens), and root stock, such as hosta and day lilies.
For Fall, we sell conifer seedlings and transplants, along with some flowering Spring bulbs.
While most of the species we sell are available every year, we try to stock new items as well. We also sell a selection of books, fertilizer tabs, and bat houses. We also have two tree planters and a no-till drill for planting native grasses available to rent. Most of our trees and shrubs are bare-root and under 2’ tall. All of our trees and shrubs are from Michigan nurseries.
Our largest sales are from farmers in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Our pricing structure is set up to make it affordable for these types of large purchases. We also see a lot of smaller sales. To reach owners of smaller lots – or those who want more variety with a smaller number of trees - we sell a selection of packets of mixed trees.
